| Chairman’s Message Craig Lovett |
| In the beginning… Welcome to Sydney, Australia! Welcome to Camp Cleanevent and welcome to the Sydney 2000 Olympic and Paralympic Games. We have workers, managers and guests from every corner of the globe and that makes not only the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games special, but also our whole Team 2000 special. We want you to have one of the most memorable experiences of your lifetime. Take home memories, souvenirs, new friendships and make sure they are positive and pleasant ones. Like the athletes, you will be asked to stretch yourself beyond what you might normally be asked to do. You can do it, and more importantly, we can do it as a Team. Remember the experience that you will want to look back on. I am very proud to have all of you with us and hope you will in turn remember to be proud of us. Please make sure all of you introduce yourself to me, as I would like to have met and shaken hands with each and every one of you by the close of The Games. Without your support and hard work we would not be able to stand and deliver. I know as a TEAM we will make sure these Games are the greenest and cleanest in the history of the Olympic Games. The best part is that you are here to be involved with us! And in the end… About 14 days ago I wrote about the challenges and opportunities that were ahead of us and I wrote about the hard work and motivation that would be required to achieve our goals. Well here we are..... two weeks on and at the end of the biggest event that we, as a company, have ever done. Our motivation has been tested and our strength to keep on keeping on throughout this event has probably been the biggest hurdle of all - but we've done it! This has been a bloody hard gig and I want to thank each and every one of you for sticking it out and working so hard for so long - it makes me proud to know that this team is so good at what it does! We said that area ownership and pride in the work place would see us succeed where others have not and this simple philosophy has proved itself correct. In two weeks time we need to once again gather our forces and face the Paralympics with all the drive and enthusiasm that we faced the Olympics. We are only halfway through our contracted period and it is essential that we finish what we started with the same professionalism and high standards with which we began. If you are staying with us for the Paralympics I thank you in advance!! I sincerely hope that this period in your life has provided all that you hoped it would and that personal growth and great memories are part of YOUR Games legacy. Once the dust has settled and you are back home again I would welcome a note from anyone that cares to write. I am interested to hear the positives and the negatives in regard to our operation at The Games. So, from my senior management team and myself, I thank you and I take my hat off to you - you're damn hard workers and damn good at your jobs! Be very proud!! |
